Abstract

一种震级估计设备(10),其设置有:同心圆设置单元(11),其在地震发生时,基于所测量的震度来将各个地点的震度计(20)分组,并且对于各个组设置相互处于同心关系的圆,以使得包括在同一组中的震度计位于同一圆上;以及震级估计单元(12),其将震度计(20)的地点和圆的中心之间的距离作为离震源的距离以代入用于根据离震源的距离和震级值来导出震度的等式,指定在从该等式导出的震度和通过震度计所测量的震度之间的差为最小处的震级值,并且基于所指定的值来估计地震的震级。
A magnitude estimation device (10) is provided with: a concentric circle setting unit (11) which, when an earthquake occurs, divides seismic intensity meters (20) at respective points into groups on the basis of measured seismic intensities, and sets circles that are concentrically related to each other for the respective groups such that seismic intensity meters included in the same group are located on the same circle; and a magnitude estimation unit (12) which substitutes, as the distance from an earthquake source, the distance between the point of the seismic intensity meter (20) and the center of the circle into an equation for obtaining the seismic intensity from the distance from the earthquake source and the value of magnitude, specifies the value of magnitude at which the difference between the seismic intensity obtained from this equation and the seismic intensity measured by the seismic intensity meter is minimized, and estimates the magnitude of the earthquake on the basis of the specified value.
